QUARRALUNA is a biodiverse multifaceted landholding from the peasant traditions. Entwined with the principles of a consciously designed and implemented permaculture system of natural farming and engaged futuristic living today.

QUARRALUNA is a unique location integrating a myriad of ecological and spiritual disciplines techniques and ethos, towards an outcome that is life sustaining, harmonious, multifunctional and beautiful.

QUARRALUNA is situated in the Avon river catchment on the intermittent Warraling creek upstream from the Mackie, Avon and Swan Waugal songlines. it sources water 300m above the Great Ocean of India. Is 140km east of Perth in the central wheatbelt of WESTERN AUSTRALIA in proximity to the towns of Quairading, Beverley and York.

The name QUARRALUNA arises from a synthesis of language and metaphor from Latin, Arabic and Nyungar. QUARRALUNA recognises and respects the Nyungar peoples prior custodianship of this land. We sincerely walk the tracks as present-time stewards.

QUARRALUNA is part of a new paradigm vision ~ a cultural creative movement effecting positive transformations and interactions of our agricultural practises, architectural design, water and energy sources. By reaching even beyond this to live undivided lives with a synthesis of inner and outer in harmony.

HISTORY

Michael arrived during "dry earth" (January-February) 1994, the barren decimated flatlands ~ skyscrapers of sheep and wheat lying sideways. A tree in bonsaid seclusiion gnawn into sheep shape. the magnifiant salmon gum(mungart) proud but vulnerable. Vestiges of roofing lay scattered, decaying verandahs obscured entry into some sort of dead sheep abode. the Dali kitchen remained, still hanging on. Unlived in and unloved for 28 years, surrounded by farm rubbish and relics. Armed with the enthusiasm and romance that makes dreams happen the transformation begun.....................
